Lindheimer Chapter Board Minutes September 2026 (Preliminary)

9:30 AM 9/11/26. Called to order at 9:34 AM

Old Business:

Were the yard signs from Thompson Printing (open through August 3rd) ordered? Sarah has ordered the signs.

State Society:

President’s Report: Sara Torres, Acting

Continue Board meetings at TPML at 9:30, on the second Tuesday, reservation for Sept. through Dec. at TPML has been approved. We will hold our chapter meetings at Mammen Family Public Library during construction. Nancy has reserved a room at Mammen Library for August through December for the chapter meetings. Sara will ask about doing TPML for chapter meetings.
Please turn in your Event Liability Forms.

Secretary’s Report: Dick Bigelow

Dick Bigelow, VOTE to approve minutes. Dick made a motion to approve the July minutes, Bev seconded, unanimous approval.

Treasurer’s Report: Sarah Mato

The bank balance as of 08/31/26 was $4238.81.
Sarah said that rebates from State are very disorganized.
Update on 2025 audit. Email was sent to Sarah and Dick that the audit was completed with no issues.

Director of Formal Education: Craig Bruska

Native Seed Library Program, upcoming workdays
- September 10th (second Thursday) Mammen seed cleaning 2-4 PM.
- September 11th (second Friday) TPML seed cleaning 2-4 PM.
- September 17th (third Thursday) Garden Ridge seed cleaning 1-3 PM.
September 19th NLCP 2 Mammen. Registration is full. Preparation was discussed.
October 31st NLCP 3 Mammen. Registration is full.

Director of Community Outreach: Sara Torres, Acting

Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country – Mickey Riviere, 1^st Thursdays at 9:30-11:00.

Chamber of Commerce demonstration garden – Sara Torres, 3^rd Wednesdays 9 AM.

Mamman Demo Garden – 2nd Wednesday only September 9:00-11:00.

Gorge Preservation Society workdays (Canyon Lake Gorge) – Every Tuesday 9-11, 2nd Saturdays 9-12.

Debbie has signed us up for the HEB tabling for Native Plant Week. I will request the HEB in Spring Branch at the intersection of 46 and 281. It is the most convenient one on the list. Based on feedback from the board, I will only commit to the 2nd weekend which is Oct. 24,25.

Director of Communications: Open

Director of Plant Sales: Debbie Kyrouac

Fall plant sale will coincide with NLCP III on Oct 31 at Mammen Library. Preparation was discussed.
Spring plant sale – With Easter being March 28, I propose that we reach out to Mammen Library and Leon to see if we can secure April 3 for an NLCP class and Spring plant sale.

Past President: Sara Torres

She pointed out that there are many open positions on the board for next year. If they are not filled it will be difficult for the chapter to continue operating.

Field Trip Chair: Christina Campbell

September field trip to Zilker Botanical, Austin is confirmed. Guided tours start at $7 per visitor and usually last between 60-90 minutes. Saturday, September 26th 10am-11:30 AM.

Membership: Bev Willman

Hospitality: Jan Walker

The current HEB card contains about $225.00.
I’m trying to get ideas for the Christmas meeting. I’ve attached a proposal from Ay Chiwawa restaurant ($580 for 30 people) and would LOVE any suggestions others may have. After discussion Jan will look at the cost of Fajita meat only.
Charlotte passed on some supplies to her.
Sarah will let Jan know how much of the budget for refreshments is left for the Christmas party.

September 15^th Jeff Pavalat, the Curator of Cacti & Succulents of the Zilker Botanical Garden in Austin, speaking on “Cacti & Succulents of South Texas”. At Mammen.
October 13^th Mammen Room B. Mike sent an email saying that we would have a speaker, Sara will send him a couple of suggestions from the board’s discussion.
November 17^th Seed exchange, Mammen Room B.
December 15^th Christmas party, Mammen Rooms A&B.
