The NPSOT Lindheimers hosted a table at the Monarch & Friends Pollinator Fiesta at the Guadalupe River State Park on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

In addition to an information table for grownups, we had another table where children attending the Fiesta could create a biodegradable origami flowerpot.

The origami flowerpots were made of kraft paper, carefully folded to create a biodegradable pot to plant directly in the ground.  Depending on the age of the creative child, the pot could first be folded, then stamped with a depiction of a flower or a butterfly, colored with markers, or adorned with stickers.  Younger kids could get creative with pre-assembled pots.

Other tables along the trail entertained visitors with pollinator displays ranging from butterflies to honeybees to bats.  Both kids and their parents were intrigued by many varieties of pollinator critters and how their targets were pollinated.

All youngsters who received stickers for visiting each table became eligible for a special treat from the park rangers.  A great time was had by all!
