It grows 1\u2019 -3\u2019 tall. Its bright yellow blooms<br \/>with a black dot in the center appear from March \u2013 August. Cut<br \/>back in early spring to the new emerging foliage. Can deadhead<br \/>after bloom. There is also a low-growing form of calylophus. Care<br \/>is the same for both types.<\/p><p><strong>Planting Sites:<\/strong> The plant grows in dry, rocky, gravelly, sandy, or limestone-based soils in full sun or light shade.<br \/>Good drainage is essential.<\/p><p><strong>Planting Instructions:<\/strong> Space plants 12\u201d- 24\u201d apart. Dig hole slightly larger than, but the same depth as the nursery<br \/>container. Carefully remove plant from container and gently loosen any compacted soil or roots around the root<br \/>ball. Plant at the same depth as the soil in the container. Add a light crushed granite or pebble mulch.<\/p><p><strong>Watering Instructions:<\/strong> Water well after planting, using a root stimulator mixed according to directions. For about 3<br \/>months, water deeply when top 2 &#8211; 3\u201d of soil is dry to promote deep roots that will withstand drought. Skip a<br \/>watering after a rainfall of \u00bd\u201d to 1\u201d. Once established, Calylophus is very drought-tolerant.<\/p><p><strong>Comments:<\/strong> Very drought and heat tolerant. Good plant for rock gardens and perennial beds. Good companion<br \/>plant for blackfoot daisy, big red sage, and damianita. Provides cover for birds and nectar for butterflies, insects,<br \/>and bees.
