Heart-shaped basal leaves are dark-green above and purple beneath. Flowering stems 1-3 ft. in height.<\/p><p><b>Planting Sites: <\/b>Rich, acidic soils.<\/p><p><b>Planting Instructions: <\/b><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">Space plants 3\u2019<\/span> \u2013 <span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">6\u2019 apart. Dig hole slightly larger than, but the same depth as the nursery<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">container. Carefully remove plant<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">from container and gently loosen any circling roots or compacted soil around the<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">root ball. Plant at the same depth as the soil in the container. Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Watering Instructions: <\/b>Prefers moisture but also found growing in dryish areas. Tolerates seasonal flooding.<\/p><p><b>Comments: <\/b>When planted en masse, can lend a golden glow to the spring woodland landscape. Flowers attract bees. <strong>Warning:<\/strong> POISONOUS PARTS: Leaves, but only low toxicity if touched or ingested. Symptoms include liver toxicity, skin irritation following contact.
