It<br \/>produces ageratum-like clusters of fragrant, pinkish-white blooms in the fall that<br \/>are popular with butterflies. It grows in full sun but might appreciate some<br \/>shade in the late afternoon.<\/p><p><strong>Planting Sites:<\/strong> White mistflower will grow in sand, loam, clay, or limestone soils. It needs good drainage and is<br \/>drought tolerant once established.<\/p><p><strong>Planting Instructions:<\/strong> Dig hole slightly larger than, but the same depth as, the nursery container. Carefully remove<br \/>plant from container, gently loosen any compacted soil or circling roots around the root ball. Plant slightly higher<br \/>than the surrounding soil. Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch.<\/p><p><strong>Watering Instructions:<\/strong> Water deeply after planting, using a root stimulator mixed according to directions. For<br \/>about 3 months, water deeply when top 2 &#8211; 3\u201d of soil is dry to promote deep roots that will withstand drought. Skip<br \/>a watering after a rainfall of \u00bd\u201d to 1\u201d.<\/p><p><strong>Comments:<\/strong> Nectar source for butterflies and hummingbirds. Cut back severely each winter for best bloom and<br \/>attractive plant. Host plant for the Rawsons Metalmark butterfly.
