The plant<br \/>sends up 4\u2019-8\u2019 bloom stalks with salmon pink flowers from spring to frost. Its leaves lack sharp-<br \/>pointed ends because it is not actually a yucca. Highly drought tolerant. It is a versatile plant,<br \/>perfect for rock or cactus gardens, or around the pool. It will also grow in large containers. There<br \/>is also a yellow-flowered variety.<\/p><p><strong>Planting Sites:<\/strong> Red yucca grows in partial shade or full sun. It grows in well-drained sand, loam, clay, caliche, or<br \/>limestone soils.<\/p><p><strong>Planting Instructions:<\/strong> Dig the hole slightly larger than, but the same depth as, the nursery container. Carefully remove<br \/>plant from container and gently loosen any compacted or circling roots around the root ball. Plant at the same depth<br \/>as the soil in the container. Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch \u2013 preferably crushed granite or small gravel.<\/p><p><strong>Watering Instructions:<\/strong> Water well after planting, using a root stimulator mixed according to directions. To promote<br \/>deep roots that will withstand drought, water deeply whenever the soil has dried to a depth of an inch or two.<\/p><p><strong>Comments:<\/strong> Deer eat the blooms but not the leaves.
