Carolina Jessamine

Plant Name: Carolina Jessamine Gelsemium sempervirens
This high-climbing vine is very common in parts of the South, frequently found in abandoned fields and climbing high into the canopies of pine forests. It is quite adaptable and tenacious, with no serious disease or insect problems.
Planting Sites: Choose a location with fertile, organically rich soil that drains well. If your soil falls short of these requirements, amend it with a generous amount of compost before planting.
Planting Instructions: Plant it on trellises and arbors, along fences, or under trees with loose canopies.
Watering Instructions: The plants tolerate drought but look their best when watered regularly in the absence of rain.
Comments: Attracts Butterflies, Hummingbirds. Warning The flowers, leaves, and roots are poisonous and are toxic or lethal to humans and livestock if consumed.
