This showy southern native is characterized by the loose, widely spaced nature of the flowering spike.
Planting Sites: Ideally sandy or loamy, but can tolerate well-drained clay soils
Planting Instructions: Space plants 3’ – 6’ apart. Dig hole slightly larger than, but the same depth as the nursery
container. Carefully remove plant from container and gently loosen any circling roots or compacted soil around the
root ball. Plant at the same depth as the soil in the container. Add 2 to 3 inches of mulch.
Watering Instructions: Drought-tolerant, water in the spring and summer when the top two inches of soil is dry, about once every two to three weeks
Comments: Hummingbirds and butterflies flock to these nectar-filled flowers.
