On Friday, October 11, 2024, several field trips took place in conjunction with the 2024 NPSOT Fall Symposium held in New Braunfels, Texas.

Group #14 trekked through the Canyon Lake Gorge. Carved by the flood of 2002, the Canyon Lake Gorge is a real-life classroom where visitors can experience the geology of the Texas Hill Country first-hand through visible faults, fractures, and seeps in the limestone, as well as fossils.

One of the many fascinating areas displayed two species of dinosaur footprints. The guide kindly provided information on the ancient giants.

These NPSOT Symposium adventurers gained many insights into Comal County’s geologic history, along with noticing several species of native plants apparently growing right out if the Karst.

The geologic formations were educational and impressive.

Here are the hardy explorers who survived the Gorge!
